Work Reinvented: How AI Moves Us from Tasks to Vision
With the help of Cursor.ai, I built this full-stack store locator application for my company ShotgunSpread.com. It took me about three days.
The app integrates Sanity Studio (as a headless CMS) with a Next.js frontend, uses MapBox for map visualization, and relies on the Google Places API for location validation and autocomplete. All deployed on Vercel.
Eighteen months ago, I would have needed to hire an engineer or settle for a SaaS solution that didn’t meet my needs.
Over the past year and a half, these AI tools have significantly increased my productivity: tasks that used to fill an entire day now take minutes.
Here’s the craziest part. All of the work seen in this video was done using Claude 3.5 Sonnet which was dropped back in June 20, 2024. New models are coming soon. The output will be even better. I will build more, better and faster.
What It All Means For The Future of Work
At my last job, someone once dismissed me as an “Idea Guy,” implying that ideas without execution were worthless. FF today and it turns out they couldn’t have been more wrong. In a world of AI the true differentiator is the idea itself - the spark that sets everything in motion.
Looking ahead, the real value lies in coming up with ideas. With AI taking care of much of the execution, the gold standard will be creativity and concept - figuring out what to build, not how to build it.
